Advanced Certificate in Sports Development
Aims
A Fetac level 6 course in Sports Development and Exercise Conditioning in the disciplines of sports coaching and sport community development, applicable to any code and relevant for all major NGBs. The course will also enable participants to develop practical skills and knowledge in their chosen sport complimented by the following modules: Sports Psychology, Advanced Nutrition, Health Promotion, Coaching Studies and Business Management. On Successful completion of Level 5 course, students are eligible to apply for The Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (Level 6 CEHF)
Additional content will include a module in outdoor education, conditioning practical in fitness testing and program planning, resistance training, exercise to music, step aerobics, body conditioning and circuit training.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the NCEF program awarded by University of Limerick and other awards offered by the relevant NGB’s

Work experience takes place throughout the academic year in a variety of centres and enterprises offering sport and recreation activities.
Special Features
Opportunities to liaise with sporting bodies & teams of your choice in the areas of fitness testing, programme development and implementation during work placement.
Psychological assessment, analysing data and the design of psychological plans for teams and individuals. Design & implement individual and team nutritional plans and dietary assessment. Students will organize blitzes and tournaments for their chosen sports.
Entry Requirements
Successful completion of a FETAC Level 5 Award in Sport & Recreation Studies
DSRXX or equivalent
