Green Energy & The Built Environment

Aims

Climate change and limited fossil fuel resources mean that demand for Renewable Energy will continue at an ever increasing rate. Renewable Energy is now at the heart of every informed discussion concerning energy sustainability, security and affordability. Houses, offices, stores, schools and other utility buildings have to be heated, cooled, ventilated, illuminated and this consumes a lot of energy. Buildings need to be more energy efficient through insulation, heat recovery from ventilation air, efficient lighting and smart comfort control.

This Fetac Level 5 course has been developed to provide the learner with a good understanding and knowledge base in the area of renewable energy and building insulation systems. It will enable the learners to plan and execute projects of research and investigate recent developments within the renewable energy arena by demonstrating extensive critical understanding of this rapidly expanding area

It covers the production, collection and storage of different types of renewable energy, including solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro, tide and wave.
